FutureSIM Meets University
ÖFSE had the opportunity to present the simulation Up to You! and train multipliers twice at the University of Vienna. On April 15th we visited the Institute of Educational Sciences and on May 23rd the University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences (BoKu). Each workshop had 12 participants.
Although there is already a great level of awareness of the climate crisis and its consequences at both the pedagogical level at the Institute of Educational Sciences and the scientific level at the BoKu, the participants were impressed by the innovative and complex design of the simulation. They had a lot of fun playing it. It was exciting to see which approaches the BoKu students would choose regarding sustainability strategies.
After the workshops, participants had many questions, which led to a lively discussion on how different disciplines can contribute to solving climate problems. Topics such as interdisciplinary collaboration, innovative teaching methods, and how these can support education for sustainable development were discussed.
The participants expressed great interest in integrating the simulation into their own fields of study and their (future) profession. We look forward to continued collaboration and the opportunity to engage even more students and others in the simulation.
